Product: Filtered Sunlight Phototherapy System

 

The basis of our design concept is the use of a multi-layer system to harvest sunlight and:

1. Filter out harmful UV rays

2. Filter out harmful irradiance 

3. Selectively filter light within the therapeutic wavelength range 

The sunlight can then be used for the treatment of jaundice due to neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.

 

So far, NeoTech Global has defined our ethical code, strategic focus, & acceptance criteria; identified stakeholders; conducted observation & problem ID at NC hospitals & Guatemalan clinics; researched disease state fundamentals; generated & filtered needs statements based on passion, market, & feasibility; assessed competitive market & IP landscapes; generated design concepts; acquired feedback from professionals in academia, industry, & medicine; developed preliminary CAD & physical prototypes; acquired samples from OEMs; and initiated functional prototyping & fabrication. During the process, we've gained proficiency with quality control & systems regulations, engineering notebook protocols, design history files, & pitch tactics. We've also formed professional rapport & supportive team dynamic.
